Winter is coming
Prepare your hair
Winter is quickly approaching, and for many of us here in Australia, that means it’s time to prepare for a frigid and windy few months! If you’re like many women in the area, you may also find yourself slathering on the moisturiser this time of year as cool, dry weather can leave your skin cracked, damaged, and begging for hydration. It’s no secret that winter weather can be relentless on our skin, but have you ever noticed the effects it can have on your hair?
Here’s how to combat the harsh effects of cold weather with our top tips to winter proof your hair routine!
TIP 1: MOISTURISE
One of the best things you can do to protect your hair this winter is to hit it with an extra dose of moisture. If your hair is prone to breakage and split ends this time of year, now is a great time to switch to a moisturising shampoo such as our Hygiene Range, and an excellent leave- in conditioner. A moisturising shampoo will not only nourish your hair, but will also preserve some of the natural oils your scalp produces to moisturise your hair and keep it healthy. A leave-in conditioner will help to add nourishment to your locks long after you’ve stepped out of the shower.

TIP 2: REDUCE THE HEAT
Whatever season it may be, if your hair is still exposed to the sun, and you’re still using heat-based styling tools (such as hair dryers, straighteners, and curling irons), then you still need to take the necessary precautions to protect your hair from heat damage. This damage may be even more true during the winter months as its being exposed to many other harsh elements. So, what steps can you take to protect your hair from heat damage? Take a haircation! Take a break from heat-based styling every once in a while. Or consider reducing the amount of heat styling or start by sing a heat-protecting spray every time you blow dry, straighten, or curl your hair with a styling tool.

TIP 3: GET REGULAR TRIMS
Split ends are going to happen. It’s just a fact of life. No matter how much you care for your hair or what products you use, you’re going to eventually end up with some breakage. There’s no doubt the winter months can take their toll on your hair, to keep yours looking your best don’t be a stranger at your hairdressers. Having hair regularly trimmed helps to reduce split ends and can make all the difference in keeping your hair looking healthy and full of life.

TIP 4: COVER IT UP
What’s winter without bringing out your amazing hat collection? When you’re outdoors, try and protect hair form the harsh, moisture-robbing, crisp air by protecting locks with a hat, scarf or coat. The elements can dry your hair out, making it more prone to breakage. Wool, cotton, and other fabrics can cause breakage as well, so make sure to line your hat with silk or satin to help prevent damage.
